Event – 2022 Project Connect Nordic Event

February 12, 2022

The Anderson Bluffs & River Trail Foundation is excited to announce our second annual nordic event on February 12, 2022 Named Project Connect in keeping with the Foundation vision to:

“ Sustain ABR Legacy as the Midwest’s Premier Nordic Ski Destination for Generations to Come; AND CONNECT ABR TRAILS TO THE LARGER COMMUNITY. “

Vision Statement

The first Foundation pilot ski event was conducted in 2021 as a ski relay from ABR, Erwin Township to Ramsey Michigan. Each relay leg was led by a different Board member and included 75 skiers.

This is a unique opportunity to ski 4 trail systems setting your own course as far or as short as you like. You can form your own relay team of family and friends OR ski your course by yourself (team of one) or with buddies. Registration is simple – team captains email the Foundation with the name of your team, members names and planned course route.

The event is a fun family format – not a  timed race.

Pre Event

  • Form your team with family, friends, co-workers.
  • Design a relay course from Ramsey to Erwin or wherever you like.
  • Team captains email the Foundation to register your team.

Event

  • Event 9:00am-3:00
  • Starting line of your choice any trail system ( start in Ramsey OR  Ironwood)

Post Event

  • Venue TBD 4:00-6:00 pm.
  • Show your trail tokens for raffle tickets – prize drawings every 15 minutes.
  • Have FUN!

The purpose of the demonstration fun ski relay is of course to have fun and demonstrate that cross country skiers can navigate local trails connecting them from Erwin Township all the way to Ramsey. The learning from this relay demonstration will inform Foundation future plans to better connect ABR to other beautiful ski trails. This event builds on the Foundation’s vision to:

“Sustain ABR Legacy as the Midwest’s Premier Nordic Ski destination for generations to come; and connect ABR Trails to the larger community”.

The Anderson Bluff & River Trail Foundation Inc. conducted a fun cross country ski relay on February 20, 2021, from ABR Ski Trails in Erwin Township and finished in Ramsey via the interconnecting local trails. Approximately 75 skiers enjoyed this family relay. This relay was divided into six small ski teams to complete that portion of the trail. Relay captains were Directors on the Foundation’s Board.
